With new year celebrations already underway, many publications are starting to compile this year’s lists of their favorite things. I found the New Yorker’s lists a fun and quick read. Everything from its editors and contributors’ favorite architecture, concerts to fashion of 2009 is now available on the New Yorker website. click here to check it out.
So starting this Sunday, the History Channel is going to have a new series called The People Speak. Inspired by Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States (the show is also narrated by Prof. Zinn), this series will explore figures of dissent and social change in The United States by having an all-star array of actors and musicians read/perform various historical events based on available documents.
From the trailer and clips (click here) I can sort of imagine what the show will be like, though I am very curious how the musicians will play their part in the program. I imagine they will perform songs with historical significance, and I suppose they will do their own interpretation of the music.
Well anyway, hope its a good show.
and is that Noam Chomsky playing the guitar along-side of Dylan? That would make my day.
